WESTIN HOTELS & RESORTS INTRODUCES WestinWORKOUT FITNESS CONCEPT
The Westin Dragonara Resort launched the unique WestinWORKOUT® fitness concept which was introduced in Europe last August in all Westin Hotels around Europe, Middle East and Africa. The upscale hotel brand, part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts portfolio, is leading the way in offering hotel guests a service that allows them to maintain their fitness and exercise regime while away from home – whether for business or pleasure.
Brand new treadmills, cycles, elliptical trainers, yoga mats and core boards have been installed in new WestinWORKOUT gyms and bedrooms across the region. Gone are the days when guests checked in to a hotel and watched the kilos pile on – now WestinWORKOUT can help keep the weight off and the heart rate up while on the road.
Westin’s brand team has worked with leading fitness consultants to develop one of the hotel industry’s most extensive fitness and wellness programmes. The stylish new fitness rooms are inspired by the services offered in upscale health clubs, which many Westin guests belong to. The WestinWORKOUT Gyms in Europe and the Middle East feature treadmills, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, steppers, elliptical trainers, as well as an extensive selection of strength equipment and Cardio Theatre – with personal viewing screens and sound systems on all cardio equipment. Each fitness area also features a Core Training Zone, a unique area created to improve strength, flexibility, balance and aerobic conditioning. Guests can make use of stability balls, stretching tubes, medicine balls, decks and core boards.
For guests who prefer to work out in the privacy of their hotel room, in addition to the gyms, The Westin Dragonara Resort has turned two of its guest rooms into WestinWORKOUT® Rooms, featuring an Indoor Cycle or Treadmill, DVD Pilates programmes and a custom-designed fitness shelf that holds adjustable dumbbells, resistance tubing, a stability ball, yoga mat and medicine balls.
The convenient and private exercise environment also features a fitness library by Rodale Press, the leading publisher of information on healthy, active lifestyles, which includes several publications such as Runner’s World, Bicycling Magazine and a customised local jogging/running map. The new WestinWORKOUT Rooms are available for an additional charge.
Roeland Vos, President Europe, Middle East & Africa, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, says, “Working out while on the road is a priority for many travellers nowadays, who view Westin Hotels & Resorts as an escape from their hectic daily lives. We have listened to guest feedback and developed this exercise concept which offers them a chance to renew and revitalise, from check-in to check-out. We know that two-thirds of travellers want to work out while on the road, yet many of them don’t ever make it to the gym. So by offering both a gym and our WestinWORKOUT Rooms, hotel guests are now able to fit their regular exercise routines, with the added luxury of a private workout at any time.”
